Member of CCCPC Political Bureau & Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan conducted an inspection on production of ≥200 km/h EMU at Changchun Railway Vehicle Co., Ltd. (CRC). Zeng spoke highly of CRC’s substantial achievements in technology introduction, digestion, absorption and re-innovation for the recent years, and encouraged CRC to enhance innovative capability, establish the world’s top-notch brand in China-made EMUs and make due contributions to railway technology & equipment modernization.
Member of CCCPC Political Bureau, Secretary of CCCPC Secretariat & Minister for CCCPC Organization Department He Guoqiang made an inspection tour to Jinggangshan Station, accompanied by Jiangxi Provincial Party Secretary Meng Jianzhu and Governor Wu Xinxiong. The Station was newly built and put into operation right after CR’s 6th speed increase. MOR has done a great favor to the residents of the old revolutionary base area by opening Jinggangshan Station, which is significant to improve the travel conditions and boost red tourism industry of the local area, noted HE.
The National Railway Sci-Tech Innovation Conference was held in Beijing on September 9th. The railway sector is supposed to march on from a new starting point, enhance innovative capabilities, step up railway modernization and make greater contributions to the building of an innovation-oriented nation and achieving sustained and balanced socio-economic development, underscored MOR Party Secretary & Minister Liu Zhijun.
At CR’s televised meeting on transportation safety held on August 28th, MOR Party Secretary & Minister Liu Zhijun conducted an in-depth analysis of the current production safety situation and raised clear demand for enhanced safety. Minister Liu urged the whole sector to focus on the three key areas (origin treatment, accountability clarification, management style) and make stronger efforts to create more momentum in the on-going safety examination & overhaul campaign so as to secure sustained transportation safety, especially the acceleration safety.
CR’s summer transportation drew an end on August 31st, 2007. Over the 62 days from July 1st to August 31st, CR carried 266 million passengers, representing an increase of 9.9% year-on-year and setting a historical new high compared with the previous summer transportation periods. Among others, the medium- and long-distance passengers amounted to 106 million, a y-o-y increase of 11.2%.
Momentum is gained with CR’s safety examination & overhaul campaign over the past month. CR’s Party organs at all levels have demonstrated their exemplary role in earnestly carrying out MOR Party Group’s deployment and taken forceful measures while focusing on safety education, management style enhancement, thoughts consolidation, which has injected more energy into the sweeping campaign.
The Regulations on Emergency Rescue, Investigation and Handling of Railway Transportation Accidents was enacted on September 1st 2007. Thus, the post-accident-oriented Regulations and the root-elements-addressing Regulations on Safety Protection for Railway Transport combine to provide legal assurance for all-dimensional railway safety.
On September 1st when the Regulations on Emergency Rescue, Investigation and Handling of Railway Transportation Accidents was enacted, MOR convened a televised meeting to make deployment on implementation of the Regulations and put request on enhanced safety management. All units are supposed to learn and implement the Regulations in earnest, strengthen and standardize railway accident rescue, investigation and handling according to law, enhance railway safety management performance, safeguard the people’s life and property by all means, secure smooth railway operations and contribute to a favorable environment for the 17h CPC National Conference, stressed the meeting.
Shortly after the deployment on strengthening transportation for northwestern and southwestern regions, MOR held televised transportation meeting to deploy on strengthening service for the northeastern region so as to serve the local economy and contribute to the revitalization of the northeastern old industrial bases. The meeting stressed that CR is supposed to secure more support for the northeastern region, enhance the region’s transport capacity, establish and improve the coordination and performance assessment mechanism for the regional transportation so as to serve the region’s economic development.
Aiming to promote the “three intolerance” campaign and contribute to the building of a harmonious railway, All-China Federation of Railway Labor Unions has decided to award the title of “outstanding units” to 100 units including Harbin Railway Administration Labor Union and “excellent individuals” to 100 union staff including Pu Huizi.
Echoing MOR’s call to launch a sweeping planting campaign along railway lines, All-China Railway Youth League Committee issued a circular to encourage all league members to be devoted into the fall planting campaign and add momentum to the campaign with concrete actions.
18 railway enterprises are included in “China Top 500 Enterprises 2007”, which was released by China Enterprise Confederation (CEC) and China Enterprise Directors Association (CEDA) in Wuhan on September 1st.
With the last piece of box girder installed on Yangcun Super-Large Bridge on August 30th, the girder engineering of the Beijing-Tianjin Inter-city Railway Project came to a successful completion, announced a director from Beijing-Tianjin Inter-city Railway Company Ltd. in the morning of September 5th.
Thanks to Taiyuan Railway Administration’s unyielding efforts to rationalize transport organization, adopt innovative traffic control solutions and tap the existing transportation resources to the greatest extent, Daqin Line’s capacity achieved continuous increase. Daqin Line transported 887,700 tons on September 1st, setting another single-day record.
August 26th marked the completion of 80% of the engineering on Ningde Super-Large Bridge, the most difficult part of WenFu Line Project. A 6.164 billion yuan investment or 81.1% of the contract value has been completed with the WenFu Line (Fujian Section) Project, which was started two years ago.
