In the morning of August 22nd, MOR held a grand ceremony at the lobby of CCECC building, where MOR leaders presented commemorative plates for QTR construction to the designing, engineering, research and supervising units.
Thanks to MOR Party Group’ great importance attached to and its swift deployment on the learning of the Selected Works of Jiang Zemin, the whole railway system has set off an upsurge of learning through various arrangements.
CR’s trade unions held a meeting on carrying out the “three intolerance” commitment in Qingdao on August 25th, at which the implementation work of the first half year was summarized and experience shared. The meeting called on the union system to follow MOR Party Group and Minister Liu Zhijun’s requirement, adhere to the important thoughts of the “Three Represents”, carry on the scientific development philosophy, work to the call of building a harmonious socialist society, observe the general principle of “wide coverage, normal operation, timely assistance and forceful security”, be adapted to the actual conditions, unify thoughts, improve implementation mechanism, explore new methods, and carry out the implementation work contentiously and in a down-to-earth manner so as to make due contribution to CR’s forward-leaping development.
Themed on education in patriotism and revolutionary traditions, red tourism has become hot in the summer transportation period. CR’s successively launched 85 pairs of red tourism trains are also gaining popularity, according to MOR sources.
With a long whistle at 10:16 on August 23rd, Shaoshan III 0415 locomotive hauled train 69001# slowly into the 20.05-km Wushaoling Tunnel of LanXin Line, marking the completion of Lanzhou-Wuwei South Link II. Crowds of local people thronged to the flanking hills to witness the golden bridge the railway builders have made for the prosperity of the western people.
CR held a meeting of discipline inspection secretaries in Yantai on August 21st ~ 22nd, at which MOR Party Group Member & MOR Discipline Inspection Secretary An Limin delivered a speech. While summarizing the anti-corruption campaigns of the first half year and sharing practices views on enhancing discipline inspection and supervision under the new circumstances, the meeting called on the discipline inspection units to focus on the key issues and make balanced progress in the second half year so as to accomplish the whole year’s tasks.
In the afternoon of August 22nd, MOR concluded talks with Shenzhen Municipal Government on adding a station in Shenzhen for the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-HK PDL and the two sides singed Memorandum of Understanding. A new underground station called Futian Station will be added in Shenzhen downtown for the planned PDL.
According to MOR sources, CR loaded 114,710 freight wagons on August 23rd, far more than the June 25th record of 113,258 wagons; and the freight tonnage exceeded 7 million tons.
Tibet-bound train tickets have been wooed by illegal ticket dealers since the launch of QTR line. By August 21st, there has been no single high-priced ticket for 16 days, thanks to railway police’s series of iron-handed campaigns.
As of August 25th, all of CR’s 18 railway administrations/groups have completed the passenger ticketing system upgrade from version 4.0 to 5.0, according to MOR. Thus, net-based ticketing has been fully realized and passengers can more easily buy the tickets of trains originating from the other destinations, saying goodbye to the “no ticket for available seat” dilemma.
As a new college semester begins, QTR Company meets with another summer peak of returning students. The August 20th-September 5th period is estimated to become QTR Company’s second summer peak, as most students embark on their returning train trip from August 15th. In order to ensure a timely returning, Xining Station has conducted thoughtful organization and taken various measures to address the three rushes (returning, ticket buying and station seeing-off) so as to meet the students’ and passengers’ travel need to the greatest extent.
Beijing Railway Administration’s passenger train punctuality rate has been kept at a high level since the beginning of the summer transportation. From July 1st to August 24th, the originating punctuality is 99.3%, operational punctuality 99.5% and arrival punctuality 100%.
MOR has worked out five specific measures for the whole sector to carry out the Central Civilization Committee’s Action Plan for Enhancing the Chinese Citizens’ Civic Virtues in Travel, give more civic reminding to the passengers so as to contribute to the enhancement of the Chinese citizens’ travel ethics and courtesy.
Shortly after the August 25th record of 756,600 tons, Daqin Line reported a new single-day high of 758,000 tons on August 27th.
Hauled by an electric locomotive, passenger train 1538# from Zhengzhou to Shenzhen slowly rolled out of Zhengzhou Station at 09:45 on August 28th, marking the completion and opening of the 3-year-long Zhengzhou-Xuzhou Electrification Project (within Zhengzhou Railway Administration).
